The MSI Prestige 14 is a very stylish and simple looking device and it is very well built. It is made out of aluminum and feels sturdy and long-lasting. It doesn’t have any flex of the chassis, although the bottom panel is a bit flimsy, but that shouldn’t be big deal as most people won’t be looking at the bottom of a laptop. The display is 14 inches and has small bezels and yields about 90% screen-to-body ratio. The MSI Prestige 14’s hinge when opened raises the laptop by about 1 cm allowing ventilation for the bottom of the laptop and tilts the keyboard allowing for easy comfortable typing. The trackpad is big and has a fingerprint reader on the top left corner. It is precise and easy to use.


This laptop surprisingly comes equipped with powerful hardware despite its thickness. The CPU is an Intel Core i7 1071U processor and its performance is exceptional when tested in synthetic benchmarks, it gives good results and can operate at 50w. it’s reported to give 50% more multi-core performance that it’s predecessor. You can pretty much multitask without a hitch and everyday usage the laptop feels fast and is lag-free. It comes with 16GB of RAM and the GPU is an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q which is one of the best graphics cards that you can get on the market that isn’t too expensive nor the most unreliable card.

You can get decent framerates in games like CS-GO, DOTA2 PUBG, PUBG lite, fortnite, etc. With this combination, you have a pretty powerful laptop for the price. However, there’s a catch. With components like these and a size such as this, Thermals will be a big issue as this laptop does throttle. You can, however, do one task that is either CPU or GPU intensive and you may fare better. In other words, the laptop can handle either the CPU going full tilt or the GPU Video editing is alright but it will heat the laptop.

Games run smoothly, it boots up quickly and is pretty fast. Even with all that power under the hood, the laptop manages to remain quiet, for that reason it is Quiet Mark certified as well. Unless pushed to the absolute limit, you shouldn’t be hearing the fans blow like the northern winds. The battery is rated at 10 hours backup in its ‘Super Battery Mode’. Since it has no proprietary charging port, it utilizes a thunderbolt 3 port as its charging port. Included is a 90w power adapter which is type-c.


If you’re a person who is looking for a powerful laptop but don’t want the gamer aesthetics that usually come with, but also look to play mild games from time to time? Then the MSI Prestige 14 is for you. Made for content creators and casual gamers alike, it is powerful and reliable. But be wary of the thermals as this laptop can get hot when you push it to the limit.
